Strawberry Glazed Donuts
Ingredients:
For the Donuts:
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs
Vegetable oil for frying
For the Strawberry Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
3-4 tablespoons strawberry puree (made from fresh strawberries)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chopped strawberries (for garnish, optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Donut Dough: In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy. In a separate large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and eggs. Knead the dough until smooth, about 8-10 minutes. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
2. Shape the Donuts: Roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a donut cutter or two round cutters to cut out donut shapes. Place them on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for 30 minutes.
3. Fry the Donuts: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
4. Make the Strawberry Glaze: In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, strawberry puree, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more powdered sugar or puree as needed.
5. Glaze the Donuts: Dip each donut into the strawberry glaze, letting the excess drip off. Place on a wire rack to set.
6. Garnish and Serve: Optionally top with chopped strawberries for extra flavor. Serve fresh and enjoy!
