For the Breading:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Nashville Hot Sauce:
1/2 cup melted butter
2 tbsp cayenne pepper (adjust for heat preference)
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
For Assembly:
4 brioche buns, toasted
Dill pickle slices
Optional: coleslaw for topping
Instructions
Marinate the Chicken:
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and hot sauce.
Add the chicken, ensuring it’s fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for maximum flavor.
Prepare the Breading:
In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
Remove chicken from the marinade, letting the excess drip off. Coat each piece thoroughly in the flour mixture.
Fry the Chicken:
Heat 1–2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the chicken for 6–8 minutes per side until golden brown and fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F or 74°C).
Transfer to a wire rack to drain excess oil.
Make the Hot Sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Brush the sauce generously over the fried chicken.
Assemble the Sandwich:
Place a piece of hot chicken on the bottom half of each toasted brioche bun.
Top with dill pickle slices (and coleslaw, if using).
Close with the top bun.
