Southern Comfort Plate with Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, and Gravy

Ingredients:

Fried Chicken

1 lb chicken tenders

1 cup flour

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp pepper

1 egg

1/2 cup milk

Oil for frying

Mashed Potatoes

3 large potatoes, peeled and diced

1/4 cup butter

1/2 cup milk

Salt and pepper to taste

Gravy

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp flour

1 cup chicken broth

1/2 cup milk

Salt, pepper, and thyme

Sides

2 corn on the cob

Parsley for garnish

Instructions:

Prepare the Fried Chicken:

Heat oil in a deep pan.

Mix flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Whisk egg and milk together.

Dip chicken tenders in egg mixture, then coat in flour mixture.

Fry until golden brown (about 4 minutes per side).

Make the Mashed Potatoes:

Boil potatoes until tender.

Mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until creamy.

Cook the Corn:

Boil corn on the cob for 5-7 minutes or until tender.

Prepare the Gravy:

Melt butter in a pan, whisk in flour, and cook for 1 minute.

Slowly add chicken broth and milk, whisking until smooth.

Season with salt, pepper, and thyme. Simmer until thickened.

Assemble the Plate:

Serve fried chicken with mashed potatoes topped with gravy, corn, and parsley garnish.
