Description
1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 cup cooked rice
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the diced onion until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat if needed.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, cooked rice, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper,
and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the chopped cabbage. Pour half of the meat and sauce mixture over the cabbage. Repeat with the remaining cabbage and
sauce.
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until the
cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
