Indulgent Chocolate Caramel Boston Cream Pie Delight

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup milk
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups pastry cream (homemade or store-bought)
1 cup dark chocolate ganache
1/2 cup caramel sauce
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Once the cakes are cool, spread the pastry cream over one layer, then place the second layer on top.
Pour the dark chocolate ganache over the top of the cake, letting it drip down the sides.
Drizzle the caramel sauce over the ganache for an added touch of decadence.
