Homemade Calzones Recipe

Ingredients:

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup ricotta cheese
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 cup pizza sauce (optional, for dipping)
1/2 cup pepperoni slices or cooked sausage (optional)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 egg (for egg wash)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:

Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare Filling:

In a bowl, mix ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
Add in pepperoni or sausage if using.
Assemble Calzones:

Roll out the pizza dough into 6-8 inch circles.
Spoon the filling onto one half of each circle, leaving a border.
Fold over and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
Add Egg Wash & Bake:

Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden crust.
Sprinkle with extra cheese and parsley if desired.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
Serve:

Let cool for a few minutes and serve with pizza sauce for dipping.
