Description

Ham and Cheese Pasta Bake

Ingredients:

4 cups cooked pasta (penne or elbow macaroni)

2 cups cooked ham, diced

2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)

1 ½ cups milk

2 tablespoons butter

2 tablespoons flour

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)

½ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup breadcrumbs

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Preheat and Prepare:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Grease a baking dish or skillet.

2. Make the Cheese Sauce:

In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until it forms a smooth paste.

Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

Stir in the mustard (if using), garlic powder, and black pepper. Cook until the sauce thickens.

3. Assemble the Pasta Bake:

Add the diced ham and shredded cheese to the sauce. Stir until the cheese melts and everything is combined.

Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and stir to coat.

4. Add Topping and Bake:

Pour the ham and cheese pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Top with breadcrumbs and a little extra cheese if desired.

Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

5. Garnish and Serve:

Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

Serve hot with a side of salad or garlic bread.

Tips:

Use leftover ham for a quick and easy dinner.

You can add vegetables like peas or broccoli for extra nutrition.

For a crunchier topping, broil the dish for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
