Easy Candied Bacon

Ingredients

1 lb thick-cut bacon
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup (optional for extra sweetness)
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper (optional for a hint of spice)
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
Directions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
Arrange the bacon slices in a single layer on the wire rack.
Mix brown sugar, maple syrup, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl.
Brush the sugar mixture evenly over both sides of the bacon slices.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Check frequently towards the end to avoid burning.
Cool the bacon on the wire rack for 5 minutes (it will crisp up as it cools).
Serve as a snack, topping, or side dish. Enjoy the sweet and savory treat!
