Creamy Broccoli Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

For the Mac and Cheese:

2 cups elbow macaroni
2 cups broccoli florets
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
For Garnish:

Fresh parsley (optional)
Extra black pepper
Directions

Cook Pasta and Broccoli: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to package instructions, adding the broccoli florets to the pot during the last 3 minutes of cooking. Drain and set aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce: In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add the milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps, and cook until the mixture thickens (about 3-4 minutes).

Add the Cheese: Remove the pot from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.

Combine: Add the cooked macaroni and broccoli back into the pot with the cheese sauce. Stir until everything is evenly coated.

Serve and Garnish: Serve immediately, garnished with parsley and extra black pepper if desired. Enjoy the creamy goodness!
