Recipes:
Classic Margherita Pizza
Simplicity at its best! This traditional Margherita pizza features a crisp crust, tangy tomato sauce, gooey mozzarella, and fresh basil. Perfect for a cozy dinner or sharing with friends.
Ingredients:
For the dough:
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
1 1/4 cups warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
For the toppings:
1 cup canned San Marzano tomatoes (blended or crushed)
8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, and yeast. Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
Prepare the Sauce:
Blend or crush the canned tomatoes lightly. Add a pinch of salt for seasoning.
Assemble the Pizza:
Roll out the dough into a thin, round shape. Transfer it to a piece of parchment paper for easy handling.
Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the dough. Add slices of fresh mozzarella and a drizzle of olive oil. Sprinkle with dried oregano if desired.
Bake:
Slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Garnish and Serve:
Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately add fresh basil leaves on top. Slice and serve hot!
Enjoy:
Pair this pizza with a crisp salad or your favorite beverage for a delightful meal.
