Classic Margherita Pizza

Ingredients:
For the Dough:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
¾ cup warm water
2 tbsp olive oil
For the Sauce:

1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Toppings:

2 cups fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
1 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling)
Optional: Grated Parmesan for serving
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dough:

In a bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar. Stir in the yeast.
Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until the dough comes together.
Knead on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
2. Make the Sauce:

In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Sauté garlic until fragrant. Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper.
Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool.
3. Assemble the Pizza:

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven to heat.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch circle.
Transfer the dough to parchment paper for easy handling.
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Add mozzarella slices and fresh basil leaves.
Drizzle with olive oil.
4. Bake the Pizza:

Carefully transfer the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated stone or baking sheet.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
5. Serve:

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly.
Slice and serve with an optional sprinkle of grated Parmesan. Enjoy!

Tips:
Add the basil leaves after baking for a fresher flavor.
Pair with a light salad or a refreshing lemonade for a complete meal.
