Description
Apple Pie Bombs
Ingredients:
1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
1 1/2 cups apple pie filling (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/4 cup caramel sauce (optional, for drizzling)
For the Homemade Apple Pie Filling (Optional):
2 large apples, peeled and diced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
Prepare the Apple Pie Filling (if using homemade): In a medium saucepan, mix diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter, and lemon juice. Cook on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until the apples become tender. Dissolve cornstarch in water and stir it into the apple mixture until it thickens. Remove from heat and allow it to cool completely.
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dough: Open the biscuit dough and separate it into 8 individual biscuits. Flatten each biscuit into a circle about 4 inches wide using your hands or a rolling pin.
Fill the Bombs: Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of the apple pie filling onto the center of each flattened dough circle. Gather the edges of the dough around the filling and pinch them together at the top to seal the bomb. Shape it into a smooth ball.
Bake the Bombs: Arrange the filled dough balls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
Coat in Cinnamon Sugar: While the bombs are baking, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Once the bombs are out of the oven, brush them with melted butter and immediately roll each one in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
Serve and Enjoy: Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired and serve warm.
