Apple Custard Puff Pastry
Ingredients:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1 cup custard (homemade or store-bought)
2 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Powdered sugar (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Pastry:
Cut the puff pastry sheet into equal rectangles. Place half of the rectangles on the baking sheet and prick them with a fork.
3. Layer Custard and Apples:
Spread a layer of custard on the pricked pastry rectangles. Arrange the apple slices over the custard and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
4. Top with Pastry:
Use the remaining pastry rectangles to cover the apple slices. Press the edges to seal and brush with the beaten egg.
5. Bake:
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
6. Garnish and Serve:
Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!
