Cherry Pie Bars

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 ¼ cups granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Add cold butter and cut it into the dry ingredients until crumbly. Reserve 1 cup of the mixture for topping.

4.
Add egg and vanilla extract to the remaining mixture, mixing until combined.

5.
Press the dough into the prepared baking dish to form the bottom crust.

6.
Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the crust.

7.
Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the cherries.

8.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.

9.
Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
