Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry

Ingredients:

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

6 slices of ham

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese or Gruyere

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

1 tbsp Dijon mustard (optional)

2 tbsp breadcrumbs

1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the pastry, if using.

3. Assemble: Place ham slices on one half of the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the ham. Fold the pastry in half to cover the filling and press the edges to seal.

4. Add Toppings: Brush the top with beaten egg. Sprinkle breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.

5. Bake: Place the pastry on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden and puffed.

6. Serve: Let cool slightly, garnish with fresh thyme or parsley, and serve warm.
