Stuffed Shells with Meat and Cheese

Description

Stuffed Shells with Meat and Cheese

Ingredients:

12 large pasta shells
1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
1 small onion, diced
2 cups ricotta cheese
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh basil (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:

Cook the pasta shells:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta shells and cook until al dente, following package instructions (about 9 minutes). Drain the shells and set them aside to cool.
Make the filling:

While the shells are cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef and diced onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are softened (about 5-7 minutes). Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the garlic, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Let it cook for another minute.
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, and the egg. Add the cooled beef and onion mixture to the cheese blend and mix everything together.
Stuff the shells:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom of a baking dish.
Take each shell and carefully stuff it with the beef and cheese mixture. Place the stuffed shells in the baking dish.
Assemble and bake:

Once all the shells are stuffed, pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top of the shells and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
After 25 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
Serve:

Garnish with fresh basil, if desired.
Serve hot, paired with a side salad or garlic bread!
This dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner or for meal prepping! The cheese and the beef stuffing make each bite super comforting and flavorful. Enjoy! Let me know if you want any variations or tips!
