Pizza Chicken Skillet

Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste
1 cup marinara sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
12-16 slices of pepperoni
Fresh basil or parsley (for garnish)
Directions

Season the chicken: Rub chicken breasts with olive oil, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Cook the chicken: Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown (it doesn’t need to be fully cooked).
Add the sauce: Pour marinara sauce over the chicken, spreading it evenly.
Layer the toppings: Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over each chicken breast, then top with 3-4 slices of pepperoni.
Bake: Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (165°F internal temperature) and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot with a side salad or garlic bread.
