Creamy Broccoli Mac & Cheese
Ingredients
12 oz elbow macaroni
2 cups fresh broccoli florets (lightly steamed)
2 tbsp unsalted butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups milk
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Directions
Cook the pasta:
Boil the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Steam the broccoli:
Lightly steam the broccoli florets until tender-crisp. Set aside.
Make the cheese sauce:
In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden. Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream, stirring until the sauce thickens.
Add the cheese:
Stir in shredded cheddar, Parmesan, and garlic powder until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Combine everything:
Add the cooked macaroni and steamed broccoli to the cheese sauce. Mix until evenly coated.
Serve & enjoy:
Garnish with extra cheese, parsley, or freshly cracked black pepper. Serve hot and enjoy the creamy goodness!
